Written for what this product actually holds: photographs, video, audio and words about an animal who is dying, gathered by someone in the middle of it.
Who holds it
Long Waves LLC runs The Last Good Days and is responsible for the information described here. Write to hello@thelastgooddays.com about anything on this page — a copy of your data, a correction, a deletion, or a complaint.
What we collect
- Your first name, email address, country and timezone.
- Your animal’s name, species, the pronouns you chose, and anything optional you chose to add.
- What the veterinarian has said about time, and what is still comfortable or possible — as you described it, in the categories we offered. We don’t ask for a diagnosis, records, or treatment history.
- Which notes were sent, what you answered, and what you uploaded.
- If someone you invited adds something, their name as they gave it and what they added.
Why we hold it
To send you the notes you asked for and to keep your archive for you. That is the whole purpose. We don’t profile you, we don’t sell anything to you inside the companion, and nothing here is used to build an audience.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use your media or words to train any model, and no generative model reads them.
- We don’t make anything you upload public, and there’s no permanent public address for any of your files.
- We don’t run advertising pixels or session-replay tools on any page — not on intake, not on note responses, not on the archive, not on helper contributions. No third-party script loads anywhere on this site, which is enforced by the content security policy rather than promised.
- We don’t send your animal’s status, timeline, what is possible, your answers, or your identity to any advertising platform.
- We don’t show your material to a referring professional. Referral reporting is aggregate counts only.
- We don’t sell or rent anything about you to anyone.
Cookies
Four, all first-party, none for advertising. One keeps you signed in. Two record which practice or page referred you, if any, so we can count referrals — they hold a short code and nothing about you. On a test build there’s a fourth that remembers you entered the preview passcode.
We keep our own product measurements in our own database: which screens were reached and which kinds of answer were given, recorded against a pseudonym rather than your name, with a fixed list of permitted fields that cannot carry free text, an animal’s name, or a file.
Who else touches it
As few companies as we can manage, and none of them for their own purposes:
- Our hosting provider, which runs the application and the database.
- Our object storage provider, which holds the files you upload.
- Our email provider, which delivers the notes and sign-in links. It necessarily sees your email address and the contents of those messages.
Data is processed in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, that means your information is transferred there and held under that country’s law.
How it is held
Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Files live in private storage and are only ever reached through a short-lived signed link generated for one request — there is no lasting address for any of your files, and object names carry random bytes so nothing is guessable. Sign-in is by emailed link, so there’s no password to be stolen. Our staff don’t browse private archives: opening a project for support requires a typed reason, writes a record before anything is read, and shows only metadata — never your media and never what you wrote.
What you can do, at any time
- Download any single item, or all of it as one file, in the quality you uploaded.
- Delete any single item.
- Delete the whole project and your account. We confirm first, then it goes.
- Stop all messages, from any message or screen. It needs no explanation and we don’t ask for one.
- Ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or object to how we are using it — hello@thelastgooddays.com.
How long we keep it
- Your archive: until you delete it, or until you ask us to.
- Backups: no longer than 30 days. A deletion is applied to the live service immediately, and the last backup that still contains what you deleted is destroyed within that window.
- Sign-in links and expired sessions: deleted within a week of expiring.
- Records that we stopped messaging you, and that a deletion happened: kept, because we have to be able to honor them — but without the content they refer to.
Children
This is written for adults making decisions about an animal’s care. It isn’t intended for children, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from one.
Consent, and changes
We record which version of this notice and the terms you agreed to, and when. If they change in a way that matters, we’ll tell you rather than quietly replace the page.
